Time to Pivot
I recently got hooked on that HBO sitcom Silicon Valley, well it was really on the plane to Bali when I first watched it. It’s funny how so much of the show is true of the tech industry but also kind of sad too. Nonetheless, one storyline (careful, spoilers here) is about how the team in the centre of it all needs to change up the business plan and do something else. It’s coined as ‘pivoting the business’ focus‘.
That’s sort of what I’ve decided to do with my hobby. If you know me, it’s no secret that I like to tirelessly tap away at my laptop writing code doing who knows what that’ll probably end up getting deleted after getting fed up that it’s broken. I decided to move from web development and WordPress for the time being and focus on iOS and macOS development instead. I’ve had an idea in my head for ages for a super simple project that any seasoned iOS developer could whip up in a few hours.
I’m starting from scratch.
When I got my first Mac almost two or three years ago, I vowed I’d one day make an app. I’m hoping that day is one this year. I don’t like setting resolutions or challenges per se because I never carry the motivation to finish them, but I’m hoping an open-ended pivot towards apps will get me an app in the App Store some day. Let’s hope.
