Two Years Later

Usually I’d say it felt like yesterday that I posted about having my blog for a year but the truth is; it feels like ages ago and I can’t even remember it. So another year – the second in fact – has passed since I started my blog and I’d like to think it’s changed a lot over the last twelve months. Since the last time I wrote about this my blog has changed themes quite dramatically. I’ve had more discussion in the comments and even branched out to new topics I didn’t really see on the horizon. Overall I’m quite happy with how I’ve progressed and managed to stick to the one post a month thing.

I definitely think that when I started my blog two years ago I wasn’t sure what direction it’d go in and whether I’d keep it going for this long either. I surprise myself every time someone says that they’ve read my latest post or when it’s shared because I even though it’s not super popular and always active, it seems to attract attention whenever I do something which is really nice. I think it would have motivated me to do this sooner had I known.

Anyway, enough of the self-reflection stuff and onto the interesting (or not) bits. The stats! I sort of forgot last year and didn’t really prepare but I’m curious as to how things have come along. So let’s find out. This will be news to me as well. All the below stats are taken between August 2016 and August 2017.

  • 49 total posts published including this one
  • 35 total comments made to posts including my own comments
  • A record for the most posts in a month is 9 for January (this year of course)
  • Over 5,000+ page views and February was the most popular month

I’m quite surprised by those stats. They’re by no means groundbreaking, but on a personal level I’d consider that quite the achievement for sure. I know I have a lot of work to do if I want to beat my record of 23 posts in a month. Although September 2015 was when I did those Blogging U courses so it kind of doesn’t count, right? Now that I’ve done my now annual round-up it’s time to plan the next year of posts! I’m joking, I’m not that organised.

  • Good work. I still can’t keep a personal blog going longer than a month. Novelty usually wears off and I get distracted by funny YouTube videos. To be fair though the same thing happened when I tried planning my wedding.

    • Hah thanks! I wasn’t sure how long I’d last with writing but I’ve tried to write something at least once a month and so far it’s worked.

The only thing you can do is enjoy it, if you do then it’s a lot easier.

New comments are not being accepted for this post, sorry.
